LAWTON, OK (RNN Texoma) - The Public Service Company of Oklahoma is already bracing for icy weather, and the impact it could have on the area.
PSO officials are mindful of the danger that comes with this type of weather, danger that might come from an unexpected source
“What happens is, as odd as this sounds, ice forms on the powerline, and generally, for the most part, it’s not the weight of the ice, but it forms what we call a wing. which will make the lines gallop up and down kind of like if you were cracking a whip of something like that. That’s when it tends to tear things up,” said Tim Hushbeck of PSO.
PSO says that if you see a downed power line, stay away from it and allow a PSO worker take care of it.
