The Youth Expo is hosted by the Gentlemen of Lawton High and Central Middle School’s Young Men in Action. Deandre Swanson is a part of both organizations and said they aim to influence these young men in a positive way.

“Our biggest goal with Young Men in Action and Gentlemen of Lawton High is to try to impact the way these young men think and their character because that’s vitally important, that’s the thing that’s going to propel you to success in life, and really trying to steer these guys in the right way and put them on the right path is what this group is all about," said Swanson.

Different topics were discussed such as Thinking for a Change, Personal Hygiene, Rethinking Tobacco, Dressing for Success, and Financial Literacy. Sixth through twelfth graders attended the event at no cost. Ninth grader, Jordan Watts said it’s important for guys to come out and participate in something like this.

“It keeps them out of trouble and on the right rack to do good things in the world,” said Watts.

Ninth grader, Andrew Allen said he’s going to be sure to process all the information and follow certain advise, or tips that were given. His message to other guys.

“I think they should participate in this next year or whenever it’s coming up because it’s really fun especially after this we all have a three on three basketball tournament and that’s what I think everyone is looking forward to," said Allen.

Swanson said he appreciates everyone who helped make this event possible.
