WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - A woman is behind bars to begin the new year for her alleged involvement in two thefts in May and December 2018 at the Dillard’s in Wichita Falls.
According to court documents, Natasha Latchett, 31, was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Wichita Co. Jail for two counts of Theft Under $2,500 with two or more Previous Convictions.
Her bond is $15,000 for each charge, totaling $30,000. The first theft took place on May 7, 2018. According to the arrest affidavit, around 4:45 p.m. Latchett was seen on store surveillance in Dillard’s North selecting three shirts and three pairs of jeans totaling $591.
It is alleged, Latchett walked out of the north exit without attempting to pay for the merchandise in her arms. A witness saw Latchett run towards a white Chevrolet being driven by another person.
The witness believed she was watching a theft in progress and snapped a photo of the vehicle and tags after Latchett got in and the driver took off. The vehicle used in this theft was tied to Latchett.
On December 26, 2018, another theft involving three women took place at Dillard’s where several handbags, fanny packs, and accessories were stolen. The total value of the items stolen during this theft came out to $796.87, according to court documents.
According to WFPD, two women could be seen on surveillance video coming into the store and immediately begin to grab several items before heading to the exit without attempting to pay for the items.
The women were in and out of the store in just three minutes. Detectives recognized Latchett in the surveillance footage from previous thefts. According to court documents, Latchett has more than three previous convictions for theft dating back to December 2015, which enhanced these two recent theft charges to state jail felonies.
As of the publishing of this article, Latchett remains behind bars in the Wichita Co. Jail on a $30,000 bond.
