CLAY COUNTY, TX (TNN) -

A Clay County man has been charged with Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, according to the sheriff.

In a post to the Clay Co. Sheriff’s Office Facebook page on Monday, Sheriff Kenny Lemons said Steve Dietrich, 66, was arrested on January 12, 2019 following an investigation that began in September 2018.

Officials said a six-year-old girl made an outcry of sexual abuse to family members who then called law enforcement to make a report.

During a forensic interview, the victim told investigators that Dietrich touched her inappropriately, exposed himself to her, and told her to keep it a secret, according to officials. Dietrich was also interviewed about the allegations.

Sheriff Lemons said following an intensive and thorough investigation which corroborated the victim’s statements and conflicted with statements made by Dietrich, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Sheriff Lemons said on Monday that Dietrich is no longer in custody after posting a $100,000 bond.
