Lawton Veterans Service Center receives donation

LAWTON, OK (TNN) - The military order of Purple Hearts’ Chapter 602 gave back to local veterans Thursday.

They donated $1,000 to the Veterans Services Center on 47th Street in Lawton.

Members of Chapter 602 say they wanted to help out by giving back to a center that helps many veterans file claims and get adjusted to life outside of the military.

/Commander, Chapter 602, Military Order of Purple Hearts “It’s all about helping the veterans out, because the veterans have sacrificed so much. Whether you were a combat veteran or you served in peace times, all the men and women of the armed services have sacrificed something in their life, so this is just a great way of saying ‘Thank you for your service’," said John Clipp, Commander of Chapter 602 of the Military Order of Purple Hearts.

Clipp says the money they give back to the Veterans' Center and other local organizations comes from an annual golf tournament they hold on Fort Sill.

While the date for this year’s tournament has not been set, Clipp says it will be in early June, and they will announce the date once they know it on Facebook.
