LAWTON, OK (TNN) - The Lawton Food Bank is receiving more food all thanks to the community and a local organization who held a food drive.
Food Fight is a food donation drive hosted by the Junior League of Lawton. They compete annually against other Oklahoma and Texas Junior Leagues to raise the most food for local food banks. The drive lasted from February 25th through Saturday.
Many local businesses helped with the drive by being a donation site. Tiffany Davis with the Junior League of Lawton said they are aiming to raise 3,500 pounds of food.
“I know that we have such a need of food donations in this community. There’s people who go hungry and we try to help out to the best of our degree," said Davis. "It feels good to me because I’m able to work with other local women who are passionate about giving back.”
Davis said people can still donate to the Lawton Food Bank. They request kid-friendly foods.
