LAWTON, OK (TNN) - Saturday was the season opener for Lawton’s 580 Rollergirls.
The Rollergirls took on the Northwest Arkansas Roller Derby at the Great Plains Coliseum. The game started at 6 p.m. After the game ended, there was a mash-up, which means fans got two games for the price of one.
One of the 580 Rollergirls said having a large crowd, especially on their first game of the season, is such a boost for the team.
“It’s awesome. It seems like it’s going really well this season. I mean, it’s our first game, but I’m super excited about having all these people here, because any time we have a game, the more fans we have, it’s just that much more fun," said Ellen “Elle-Beau Macaroni” Lechel. "It’s that much more exciting, and the energy level gets a little more pumped. So, when you’re on the track, it makes it that much sweeter.”
Their next home game is April 27th. It will be at the Great Plains Coliseum. Doors open at 5 p.m. and game starts at 6 p.m.
The 580 Rollergirls will be having a home game almost every month up until their season ends in August.
