Lawton Community Blood Drive promotes contest for civic groups

LAWTON, OK (TNN) - The Lawton Community Blood Drive set out not only to collect donations... but generate support for the city’s civic organizations.

Donors chose one of ten civic groups and whoever had the most votes at the end of the day received a $500 scholarship from City National Bank.

And the winner is Lawton Business Women!

Zelda Sullivan is with OBI and says it takes 1,200 units of blood every day, just to supply our local hospital.

She says the purpose for Friday’s event was two-fold.

“The civic groups do a lot in our community, they fill the gap where there’s needs and promote the city. OBI supplies every drop of blood to local hospitals and our patients depend on us. It’s a win win situation here for everybody," said Senior Account Consultant with the Oklahoma Blood Institute, Zelda Sullivan.

If you were unable to make it out Friday afternoon, you can make an appointment to donate by calling 350-6100 or just visit the center at 211 SW "A" Avenue.
