LAWTON, OK (TNN) - Comanche County wants to join in the State’s Opioid Lawsuit.
Two law firms have already agreed to represent the county.
As a result of the State’s $270 million settlement with Purdue Pharma, a meager $12.5 million, or roughly 5%, of the monies will be allocated to cities and counties including Comanche County.
Comanche County would get a potential allocation of a little more than 418,500, which equates to roughly 15 cents per resident.
Defendants in the case have claimed a majority of the damages at issue in the State’s case are in fact damages suffered by local governments and not recoverable by the State.
