Teachers honored by Red River Best Chevy Dealers

HENRIETTA,TX (TNN) - It was a big day Tuesday for a group of teachers who were saluted for their dedication to their students.

They're the Texas winners of this year's Red River Best Chevy Dealers Association teacher appreciation awards.

Over 1,300 teachers were nominated in North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma.

The dealerships teamed up to show their appreciation for teachers who have a significant impact on the lives of young people, giving out awards for some of the teachers in southwest Oklahoma last week.

Kevin Hunter from Vernon ISD was honored for teaching students how to tie a necktie, greet guests, shake hands, and have good table manners.

“To be acknowledged for something all of us who were here today... we don’t do it for the paycheck. We like being around kids. I mean this was better than any award I can receive is having my guys here with me to share the experience with me. Its just a great feeling to know that people care enough to throw you name out there for things like this,” said Hunter.

Four Texas teachers were honored Tuesday at Four Star Auto Ranch in Henrietta.

They join four Oklahoma teachers who picked up their awards last week at Wilmes Chevy in Altus.
