    In the past several weeks you may have seen workers with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation putting up black fences along I-44 starting at Gore Boulevard and going down to Lee Boulevard. They are working with the City of Lawton to keep people from crossing the highway.

    A house fire in Lawton this morning remains under investigation. It happened on the 7200 block of Willow Creek. Fire crews responded just before 10:00 a.m. Smoke was coming from the attic and the garage. Firefighters rescued three dogs that were inside the home. The family was not there at the time. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but we're told it does NOT look suspicious.

    Dozens of balloons were released outside the Lawton Veterans Center this morning. It was all to remember and honor those suffering from Alzheimer's. The center held their Alzheimer's awareness event today.  There were about 150 people there. The balloons each had a name on them of a loved one who has or had Alzheimer's. A new handicap-accessible swing was also unveiled.

    Alex Klingler is expected to be formally charged in Grady County court with 3 counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and 11 counts of shooting with intent to kill this afternoon. The charges stem from a standoff and shootout last weekend in Chickasha in which seven officers were injured. According to authorities, officers were serving a warrant for attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault.

    County health departments will begin offering flu vaccines statewide on October 2nd. Flu vaccination is recommended each year for everyone 6 months of age and older. “We are especially encouraging those in the age group of 18-64 to get their flu vaccination,” said State Health Commissioner Dr. Terry Cline. “During the 2016-17 flu season, there were 715 hospitalizations and 28 deaths among this age group.”

    One person was in custody at last check after a standoff with police in Chickasha. This happened last night at the Watson Estates Manufactured Home Community. That's on South 4th Street in Chickasha. Police say the man barricaded himself in his home, and they believed he had a gun. Eventually, he handed himself over to authorities and no one was hurt. It's not clear what led up to the standoff.

Altus Police officers responded to the 600 block of South Navajo and discovered an unconscious male. Jerry Lee Ashford, 62, was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a pickup. The driver left the scene after the accident. The roadway south of the railroad tracks was closed for over an hour as a result of the investigation.
