    The Velma Alma-School District will be modernizing their school cafeteria, thanks to the support of the community and its approval of 350,000 bond. The bond was passed in last week's special election with more than 96 percent of the vote. The school's current cafeteria facility will be torn down and re-built from the ground up.

    A fourth person has been arrested in connection to the August 20th homicide of Jared Allen Holmes, 32. Melisha Ann Torres, 37, was charged today with 1st-degree murder and conspiracy. Torres originally reported the homicide to police.

    Today the state is expected to finish presenting evidence in the murder trial of Alton Nolen, who is accused of beheading a co-worker three years ago in Moore. Yesterday, the court heard testimony from investigators and first responders and were also presented with photographs of the crime scene. However, according to the Cleveland County District Attorney, the trial could still last weeks.

This year's conference is hosted by the Museum of the Great Plains and the Lawton-Fort Sill Convention and Visitors Bureau. The event is expected to bring in quite a number of visitors, with all staff, volunteers, and board members from all of Oklahoma's museums invited to attend.

    A report just coming out says Elgin is the safest city in Oklahoma for 2017. Home security company SafeWise says it ranked cities with populations over two-thousand people using the latest FBI crime statistics available from 2015. It includes violent and property crimes. Elgin was ranked safest in the state and Walters ranked third. Other area cities on the list include Healdton at 14, Mangum at 15 and Cordell at 17.
