    The United Way of Stephens County is looking for volunteers to sign up for the Readers & Leaders program for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first-grade students in the Duncan Public School System. Around twenty volunteers have already agreed to spend 30 minutes a week in the classrooms once the new school year begins. The goal is to find 40 readers to help 32 teachers in 32 classrooms.

    After returning from a criminal justice summit in Washington DC, Mary Fallin says Oklahoma is on the leading edge of reforms. Right now, the state's prisons are at 109-percent capacity and the state leads the country in the number of women behind bars.  Despite that, Fallin says she thinks a brighter future is possible even after she's no longer in charge, thanks to new programs taking effect.

    Oklahoma House Democrats are preparing to fix the state's budget, in case the Oklahoma Supreme Court rules some recently-passed bills are unconstitutional. The Democrats are calling on lawmakers to meet up on August 3rd for a budget hearing. They say they are worried about two lawsuits heading to the Supreme Court, claiming two recent bills were unconstitutional because they were passed in the last week of the legislative session.

    Three men who had already confessed to taking part in the murder of missing hiker near Sallisaw have been released, after the charges against them were dropped. Matthew Fagan went missing back in June of last year after he went hiking with three friends near Lake Tenkiller. Those three -- Michael Snelling, Tyler Leverett, and Charles Blake Shamblin -- were then charged with first-degree murder. However, a body was never found.

    The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is promising a swift investigation, after agents served a search warrant yesterday at the Purcell Police Department. McClain County Sheriff Don Hewett asked investigators to look into possible discrepancies in the Purcell Police Department's evidence room.  The police department said they were not aware of the investigation until the warrant was served yesterday.

    Oklahoma lawmakers are speaking out about their friend and fellow lawmaker. On Twitter, Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe, who is heading the Senate Armed Services Committee in McCain's absence, said quote, "My friend John McCain never gives up on a fight. Praying for John, his family, and his fast and full recovery." Fellow Oklahoma Senator James Lankford also posted to social media, saying "If there is anyone who can beat cancer, it's John."

    One person was flown to a hospital after a rollover crash late Wednesday night. It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Baseline Road and Flowermound Road. Our photographer says the vehicle rolled into a field. Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, but so far no details have been released.

    Police are still looking for an escaped Lawton City Jail inmate after he was reportedly spotted last night. According to scanner traffic, Jeremy Marshall was seen near 52nd and Dearborn sometime before 10 last night. Police say he was serving time for traffic offenses and driving without a valid driver’s license. Earlier this month, when he was assigned to take the trash out, authorities say he simply walked out the back door.

     A suspected home invasion in Cordell has left one woman dead and her 14-year-old son in critical condition at an Oklahoma City hospital. According to the Washita County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a shooting at a Cordell home around 1:00 a.m. Tammi Thomas and her son both suffered gunshot wounds. Authorities say Thomas was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The child remains in critical condition.
