OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Thunder forward Kevin Durant said Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen was one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. Allen has proven him right. Durant scored 36 points in Game 2 on Monday night. But the man known for his smoothness and efficiency made just 12 of 28 shots and was uncomfortable all night against Allen.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Great American Conference has named Southeastern Oklahoma State's Jessica Simmons and Arkansas Tech's Sydnee Clark the conference's softball Player and Pitcher of the Week. Simmons had seven hits in 10 at bats in leading the Savage Storm to three wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State. She also stole six bases and scored seven runs.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The mercurial state of college football, and athletics in general, could be summed up by listening to Big 12 coaches respond to questions Monday as spring practices draw to a conclusion. The talk became a discussion of whether players are employees, the perils and merits of transfers, and the money associated with the new format for college football's playoff.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Michael Choice singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning as the Texas Rangers rallied to beat the Oakland Athletics 5-4 last night. Josh Wilson doubled to drive in the tying run just ahead of Choice. Alexi Ogando recorded one out in the eighth to pick up the win. Joakim Soria pitched the ninth for his fifth save.
