DUNCAN_ Investigators believe they have found the body of an elderly Duncan woman who disappeared more than five years ago. The Lawton Police Department dive team helped pull a car out of Duncan Lake on Sunday, and authorities say there were human remains inside. Duncan police say the car checked back to 70-year-old Virginia Carter, who was last seen driving it in the area back in August of 2003.

The break in the case came on Sunday, when Texas based Equusearch used its sonar technology to help.

"We went back and forth across the lake several times and did in fact find something that appeared to be a car at the bottom of the lake," said Duncan Police Lt. Jimmy Williams.

In 2003, Virginia Carter's family told 7News she suffered from dementia and had trouble walking. They tried desperately to find her in the following weeks and months.

Investigators do not suspect foul play, although the medical examiner will determine how she died.
