Infant Injured As Parents Squabble Over Tax Refund

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An 18-year-old man who fought with his baby's mother over her income tax refund is cited after allegedly striking the infant with a gun.

Oklahoma City police say the fight happened Saturday night when Darnell Williams told the woman he wanted to see his daughter.

Williams reportedly asked the woman for $1,000 from her refund. Police say Williams pulled a gun and struck the 8-month-old baby and threatened to shoot the woman.

Investigators said the woman had a scrape on her nose and the baby had a swollen spot on her forehead.

Williams is charged with assault and battery, child abuse and robbery.

The Oklahoma County Jail wasn't holding Williams on Monday. It was unclear whether he has a lawyer.
