    There was a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian reported just before 8:30 P.M. last night in Altus. Altus Police officers responded to the 600 block of South Navajo and discovered an unconscious male. Jerry Lee Ashford, 62, was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a pickup. The driver left the scene after the accident. The roadway south of the railroad tracks was closed for over an hour as a result of the investigation.

    A fourth person has been arrested in connection to the August 20th homicide of Jared Allen Holmes, 32. Melisha Ann Torres, 37, was charged today with 1st-degree murder and conspiracy. PREVIOUS STORY: UPDATE: Altus homicide victim’s car found in Lawton, new warrant issued Torres has been in the Jackson County Jail since August 21st on unrelated charges. Torres originally reported the homicide to police.

Fire crews responded just before 10:00 a.m. Smoke was coming from the attic and the garage. Firefighters rescued three dogs that were inside the home. The family was not there at the time. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but we're told it does NOT look suspicious.

    Alex Klingler is expected to be formally charged in Grady County court with 3 counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and 11 counts of shooting with intent to kill this afternoon. The charges stem from a standoff and shootout last weekend in Chickasha in which seven officers were injured. According to authorities, officers were serving a warrant for attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault.
