Health problems linked to hydroxycut

Lawton_ The popular fat burning supplement hydroxycut was pulled off of store shelves this week after reports from the Federal Drug Administration showed that it caused liver damage and other serious health problems.

One former user of the supplement said she too experienced health problems because of the product. "Probably two weeks into me taking it I started getting these bad heart palpitations," Gloria Cotton said.

She went to her doctor who told her to stop taking the pills and put her on a heart medication. She still has to take them today. Local experts caution that you should always consult your doctor before taking any dietary supplements.

"You can get shortness of breath and rapid heart beat. You can feel like you basically drank a whole pot of coffee all at once," Physician's Assistant Dawn Guerrero said.

The F-D-A is urging people to stop using the supplements and to return them to the place of purchase. For a full list of the recalled products visit the FDA's website at
