Inmates attacked at Lawton's GEO prison

Lawton- A surge of violence between Hispanic and Native American inmates in Oklahoma may have spilled over into Lawton's GEO Correctional Facility.

Police say two Hispanic inmates, Jose Padilla and Jose Moreno, were attacked by two Native American inmates at the facility late Saturday night.

Investigators say the attackers used homemade knives and hatchets on the victims. They were both rushed to Southwestern Medical Center where Moreno had to undergo surgery for his wounds. Police say the attack was caught on tape and detectives are investigating.

You'll remember last weekend, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections said race was a factor in fights involving Hispanic and Native American inmates at three Oklahoma prisons, including the state reformatory in Granite.
