Local attorney files $350 million lawsuit

Lawton_Attorney John Zelbst has filed a $350 million wrongful-death civil lawsuit against the president of Rwanda.

Zelbst is representing the widows of two slain African presidents who say Paul Kagame ordered a missile strike that brought down the plane carrying their husbands.

The women say Kagame, then leader of a non-governmental rebel group, gave the final order to shoot down the plane in 1994.

They also claim Kagame's group de-stabilized the government and led to deaths of a half-million people in Rwanda.

Kagame was in Oklahoma City Friday night to give the commencement address at Oklahoma Christian University.

University Spokesman Ron Frost says efforts were made to serve Kagame with the lawsuit during the ceremony but they were unsuccessful.
