Suspected trailer thief caught

A Comanche County man has been arrested and accused of stealing trailers in Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas.  Authorities arrested Russell Klemmer in Newcastle Friday.

7-News first reported back in July that investigators had identified Klemmer as a person of interest in those thefts.  Authorities say he would scan ads on Craigslist to find people who wanted to buy a trailer.

Then Klemmer would find one, steal it and sell it.  Tillman County Sheriff Bobby Whittington says he got a tip Thursday from a member of the Texas Cattleman's Association that Klemmer might be in Newcastle.

They caught him and he's now in the Grady County Jail.  Whittington expects to bring him to Tillman Couny next week.  Whittington says if you bought a trailer from Klemmer to please call the Sheriffs Office at 580-335-5566.
