Saudi student charged with planning terrorist attack

Lubbock, TX - The FBI says a man living just two hours from Amarillo was possibly planning a terrorist attack on Texas soil.

The Saudi student is Khalid Alim Aldawsari. He attends South Plains College in Levelland, which is near Lubbock.

The FBI says he spent most of his time in his apartment surfing the internet trying to figure out how to build a bomb.

Documents show Khalid is from Saudi Arabia and was here on a student visa.

He originally started at Texas Tech but administrators there say his grades were too low so he had to transfer about six weeks ago.

Emails the suspect sent to himself say he was thinking about targeting President George W. Bush's house in Dallas or a nuclear facility.

A truck driver is dead after a crash caused by extreme winds on an Oklahoma interstate. Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver was heading east on I-40 near El Reno when winds pushed the truck into the cable barrier and caused it to roll. Troopers say the driver, who has not been identified, was partially ejected through the driver side window and was pinned for about an hour. The medical examiner says the person died at the scene.
