Arson suspected in Monday fires near Comanche, Loco

STEPHENS COUNTY, Okla. - So many fires Monday evening south of Duncan, Stephens County officials say they lost count at ten. But, they're calling all of them suspicious.

The fires started about 5:45pm, all within a six-square-mile area between Loco and Comanche along State Highway 53.

Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney says some of the fires were a mile off the highway and a couple were rather large.

Sheriff McKinney has two investigators working on this case and they have called in an arson investigator from the Department of Agriculture.

They have a number of suspicious vehicles reported, but do not want to release details on those until they narrow it down.

Residents are urged to call authorities if they see anything out of the ordinary.
