Cameron celebrates Earth Day with tree planting

Cameron University celebrated Earth Day with a tree planting, thanks to a donation from the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, a branch of the Lawton Northeast Lions Club.

This marks the third consecutive year the group has donated a tree to the university. Cameron Vice President for University Advancement Albert Johnson, Jr. was joined by Allen Granger, president of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, along with several club members to plant an Eastern Redbud on the south side of Cameron's Aggie Gym. Joe Wotring, a founding member of the branch club, picked out the tree.

"Cameron University's continued growth is impacted tremendously by the support of community groups like the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club," said Johnson. "We are truly appreciative that they continue to think of Cameron and are taking an active role in the beautification of our campus."

"Many of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Lions as well as our parent club, the Lawton Northeast Lions, have attended CU, graduated from CU, or have kids that are past, current or future CU students," Granger said. "Cameron continues to make a positive impact on this community, and this Earth Day tree donation is our way of saying thank you."
