OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Pace was a word in fashion after Oklahoma City's 100-86 win over Memphis in their first-round NBA playoff opener. The Thunder controlled the pace during the first half by pushing the ball and scoring in transition in building a lead that at one point was 25 points. The Grizzlies were able to slow the game in the third quarter and outscore Oklahoma City by 18.
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma State used the long ball to rally from an early 2-run deficit and beat Kansas 6-3 a sweep of their weekend series in Stillwater. OSU scored three times in the bottom of the second on a three-run homer by Tim Arakawa and twice more in the fourth on a two-run shot by Dustin Williams on the way to the win yesterday. OSU improves to 29-11 on the season.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Arkansas' Katherine Grable won two national titles as Florida's Bridget Sloan captured the third of her career at the NCAA women's gymnastics championships. Grable won the floor exercise with a 9.9625. Sloan won the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.9375. Co-champion Oklahoma tied the Gators again with one title. Taylor Spears won the balance beam at 9.925.
