Great American Conference names players of week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Great American Conference has announced the league's players of the week.

East Central quarterback Spencer Bond; Southwestern Oklahoma State defensive tackle Devin Benton; and Southeastern Oklahoma State kicker Jake Walters are the offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week.

Bond threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 134 yards and four touchdowns in ECU's 47-40 win over Southern Arkansas.

Benton had eight tackles in Southwestern Oklahoma State's 27-23 win over Arkansas Tech.

Walters kicked a 19-yard field goal as time expired to lift Southeastern Oklahoma to a 52-49 win over Arkansas-Monticello.

T25-OKLAHOMA-FORD

Oklahoma RB Keith Ford out vs West Virginia

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said running back Keith Ford will miss at least a week after breaking his fibula in a win over Tennessee.

Ford led the fourth-ranked Sooners with 194 yards rushing through three games and was one of the team's top receivers with 100 yards on six catches. He leads the team with five touchdowns rushing and caught a 23-yard touchdown pass in Saturday's 34-10 win over Tennessee.

Stoops said during a conference call that it is a small, slight fracture on a non-weight bearing bone that could keep him out for two to three weeks.

Alex Ross and Samaje Perine will pick up Ford's carries, starting Saturday at West Virginia.

WEST VIRGINIA-WORLEY

West Virginia CB Daryl Worley suspended

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia cornerback Daryl Worley has been suspended indefinitely for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Coach Dana Holgorsen announced the sophomore's suspension Monday night without elaborating.

Worley has started all three games for West Virginia, which hosts No. 4 Oklahoma in their Big 12 opener on Saturday night.

Worley has 17 total tackles and two interceptions this season.

Junior Ricky Rumph is listed as Worley's backup. Rumph has yet to make a start in 21 career games.

BIG 12-DEPTH

TCU, West Virginia and Iowa St show Big 12's depth

(AP) - TCU, West Virginia and Iowa State weren't expected to do much in the Big 12 this season.

Last weekend's performances might change that perception.

The Horned Frogs, Mountaineers and Cyclones each beat a fellow power conference team on Saturday - and West Virginia and Iowa State did it on the road.

The teams picked 7th, 8th and 9th in the preseason poll respectively had three of the Big 12's four wins over power five teams, showing that the league might be deeper than originally thought.
