Lawton man killed in turnpike crash

Grady County, OK_Tragedy strikes a Lawton family twice in a matter of days.

Robert Scott, 43, was killed Thursday night shortly before 8:00 o'clock while on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike.

Just days before, his mother, Sue, had died.

Friends say he was bringing her ashes back home for a memorial service Friday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the accident happened between Newcastle and Chickasha when his car ran off the roadway and hit a guardrail.

He was driving a specially-fitted van because he was paralyzed.

But despite his disability, he was a valued volunteer at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

Assistant manager Ralph Bryant says he was an expert videographer. He says his videography was a tremendous benefit not only to this refuge but the entire refuge system.

You can see it on the refuge's website.

Bobby also has a KSWO-TV connection. His grandfather, Robert P. Scott, helped found the station more than 50 years ago.
