Born in New Hampshire, Joe migrated south to begin his journey as a meteorologist. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
Joe began his forecasting days for NC State's radio station, WKNC, providing weekly updates on current weather conditions. He later explored the TV Broadcasting Industry by earning a spot on University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's news station, Carolina Week, becoming one of the lead forecasters for their 5PM show.
He also forecasted for UNC at Chapel Hill's radio station, WCHL. Falling in love with the broadcast meteorology world, he looked to add to his resume by interning at ABC11 WTVD in Raleigh/Durham, NC.
The source of Joe's interest in weather came from his oldest sister, who studied aviation when Joe was younger. The importance of weather on aviation, the various maps that were involved, and the many questions of why the weather developed the way it did captured Joe's imagination and led him to pursue a career in meteorology.
He experienced bitter cold, heavy snow and ice storms in the New England area. Then he was able to get first hand practice with hurricane and severe thunderstorms in the North Carolina region. Now Joe is excited and honored to have the opportunity to apply those skills to help better forecast for the people of Texoma.
On the side, Joe is an avid tennis player, and was co-captain for the NC State's JV team. He loves to listen to country music. And when it comes down to pro sports, baseball is his favorite to watch, especially his Red Sox and Braves. He also enjoys watching Peyton and the Colts, and the Dolphins in the NFL world.
He was thrilled to see the Bruins win the Stanley Cup recently. And while NC State Wolfpack will always be his #1, he is of course open to enjoying some Sooner and Cowboy football as well.
