ASHER, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say glare from the setting sun appears to have been a factor in a traffic crash that killed two Pottawatomie County sheriff's deputies.
Sheriff Mike Booth says Tim Lowry of Saint Louis and Mike Roberts of Konawa died Friday evening after colliding with a tractor-trailer.
Booth says Lowry and Roberts worked in the warrants division and were likely driving back to headquarters when they crashed at 8 p.m.
Oklahoma City television station KOCO reports that the deputies crested a hill at the time of the crash and would have had trouble seeing as they faced the sun.
The crash occurred on Oklahoma Highway 39 between Asher and Konawa.
Booth told The Oklahoman that Lowry and Roberts were picked to start the warrants team because of their experience and reliability.
