March of Dimes honors Lawton CEO

Lawton_Juanita Grooms, founder and CEO of Agape Comprehensive Health Services, in Lawton, was recently named the Oklahoma's 2011 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year.

Grooms founded Agape nearly two decades ago.

"It's the pinnacle of my career to receive such an honor at this time. I've been practicing almost 40 years and so to be a nurse who works in the field and cares for my patients directly, as well as be the CEO of my own corporation and to be acknowledged amongst my peers throughout the state of Oklahoma is just a phenomenal experience," Grooms said.

Grooms went through a long nomination and selection process, ending with her receiving the award in late September in Oklahoma City.
