Lawton council delays decision on fireworks ban

LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton City Council put off a decision Tuesday night on banning the sale and possession of fireworks within the city limits.

Fire Chief Bart Hadley had pushed for the change, to expand the ordinance that already bans the use of fireworks in town. But those in the business of selling fireworks told council members they were concerned about losing business if they were forced to place their stands outside the city limits.

The council voted to table the proposal so they could study it further.
