OU loads up on offense, signs 25 prospects

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma stocked up with six junior college transfers on signing day, trying to fill the holes that popped up during a season that opened with the Sooners ranked No. 1.

Coach Bob Stoops said Wednesday the higher-than-usual number of junior college transfers came because he saw "more immediate needs" than in years past. Receiver Courtney Gardner and running back Damien Williams were late additions among the transfers, with all six at different positions.

In all, Oklahoma brought in 25 players.

The Sooners added five receivers, including Trey Metoyer's arrival after a year of boarding school at Hargrave Academy.

There were also three tight ends, replenishing a position depleted by the departure of seniors James Hanna and Trent Ratterree and Austin Haywood's transfer.
