Pregnant woman, daughter involved in crash on I-44

FLETCHER, Okla. – An accident on the turnpike near Fletcher Wednesday sent an expectant mother to the hospital and shutdown part of Interstate 44.

It happened at mile marker 58 near the Fletcher exit. 

Linda Strawderman saw it happen and called authorities.  She says the driver hit a concrete barrier in the middle of the highway.  It threw the car into a spin and the vehicle ended up in the ditch.

Strawderman says she immediately stopped and the driver's 6-year-old girl came running out of the ditch.  She said she was okay.  Strawderman dialed *55 and took care of the little girl until troopers arrived.

Authorities shutdown the interstate while the helicopter landed to take the driver, who is 5 months pregnant, to the hospital.  7News is still awaiting word on her condition.

    Learning to work together. That was the goal of a networking reception today, joining together nonprofits from southwest Oklahoma. The reception was held at the Youth Services of Stephens County.  The guest of honor was Jerry Wright - who is the director of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. Wright is responsible for helping nonprofits all across the southern part of the state. He answers any questions about budget, legal advice, and others.
