CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Police say a 9-year-old boy was very drunk when he was found passed out and barely conscious on a New Mexico playground.
KRQE reports that two kids found their 9-year-old friend passed out at a Carlsbad playground last month. The boy was rushed to the hospital and doctors said the boy had a blood alcohol level of 0.24 -- three times the presumed level of intoxication for drivers under state law.
Police said Tuesday that a 13-year-old boy admitted stealing a bottle of vodka from Albertson's that the 9-year old then drank. The 13-year-old was cited for shoplifting and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
The 9-year-old also was cited for minor in possession but that charge was later dropped.
