Local church teams with Feed The Children for food giveaway

Lawton_More than one in four children in Comanche County are considered impoverished. That's why Faith Based Church of God of Lawton teamed up with Feed The Children to stop their hunger.

800 families were selected to receive a 25-pound box of food, filled with all the essentials. Marines, soldiers, and Sav-A-Lot Grocery store employees volunteered at Friday's event by filling boxes and loading them into trucks.

"I think it's important that the church is a part of the community. It plays a vital role in the community so this gives us another chance to really touch the community," said Assistant Pastor Ronald Hill

This is the second time that the Faith Based Church of God has teamed up with Feed The Children to provide families in need with a box of food.
