Recall Roundup, 3-8-12

Posted: Updated:

Several common household items you and your family may use are recalled this week.

We start with a large recall from a popular food company. Thousands of pounds of cooked pizza toppings may be mislabeled and contain a potential allergen. More than 12,000 pounds of Tyson Foods cooked pizza toppings are said to be mislabeled.

The packaging identifies the products as beef, but they actually contain pork. And the pork products contain soy, a known potential allergen. The recall includes 10-pound cartons labeled as "Cooked Pizza Topping" and 5-pound packages labeled as "Arrezzio-cooked Manzo Cotto Beef Pizza Topping."

The products were sold through a distributor nationwide. You can contact Tyson Foods for more information at (866) 328-3156.

And a product you may have in your medicine cabinet...select medicine containers sold in our area can be dangerous to kids, pets and other adults. Nearly 60,000 RxLocker medicine bottle storage containers sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond, CVS and Walgreens do not work properly and are being recalled.

The container can open by applying pressure to the latch when it's locked, meaning children or adults could have access to the pills inside. Contact Locker Brand at (888) 491-6617 or www.rxlocker.com for a refund.

Also in your home, more than 110,000 cups and mugs made by Carlisle in Oklahoma City are being recalled. The brand's nine models can break when exposed to hot liquids, creating a burn hazard to consumers.

You are advised to immediately stop using these cups and mugs and contact the company at (800) 217-8859 or www.carlislefsp.com for more information.

And bike riders may want to pay attention to this recall. About 9,700 GORE "Ride-On" Low Friction System Brake Cables and GORE "Ride-On" Professional System Brake Cables for road bikes are being recalled.

The cables are sold at bicycle specialty shops, sporting goods stores and online retailers.
When the brake cables are installed on select levers they can detach, causing the brakes to fail while being used.

The products were sold nationwide from January 2008-January 2012. The company is aware of one report of a brake cable detaching. No injuries have been reported. For more information contact: (888) 914-4673 or www.rideoncables.com
