Okla. gets $126,523 in housing counseling grants

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $126,523 in housing counseling grants to six organizations in Oklahoma.

HUD officials announced Friday that the funding is part of $42 million that was awarded nationwide.

The Community Development Support Association in Enid received the most money, $24,465. Officials say $23,424 went to Ki Bois Community Action Foundation in Stigler and $22,986 was given to the Community Action Agency for Oklahoma City and Oklahoma and Canadian Counties.

Other grants were $19,141 for Housing Partners of Tulsa; $18,549 for Housing Authority of the City of Muskogee and $17,958 for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Central Oklahoma in Bethany.

HUD says the funding will help families become and remain homeowners; provide assistance to renters and the homeless and offer financial literacy training.
