Okla. rep. wants state to investigate shooting

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A state representative from Oklahoma City says he wants the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to look into the fatal police shooting of an 18-year-old in Del City.

Democratic Rep. Mike Shelton told KOCO-TV (http://bit.ly/GSH9yW ) that he wants the OSBI to take over the investigation to ensure an impartial investigation.

Dane Garrett Scott Jr. died after being shot by an officer on March 14.

Police say Scott had led officers on an auto chase that ended when the car Scott was driving crashed into a tractor-trailer rig - then he got out of the car and was shot while fighting with an officer over a gun that Scott was carrying.

Shelton says he was contacted by a member of Scott's family and other community residents who support an OSBI investigation.
