Recall Roundup

Posted: Updated:

From kitchen appliances to outdoor grills, NewsChannel 10's Michelle Langowski has some large recalls to tell us about in this week's "Recall Roundup."

We start with a large recall of drop side cribs sold at an area retail store. More than 16,000 drop side cribs sold at JCPenney stores and on their website from 2005 through 2008 are being recalled because their sides can malfunction or detach.

This can cause part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space where an infant or toddler can roll into and become wedged or trapped. If this happens, they can be strangled or suffocated.
A child can also fall out of the crib if it becomes detached.

Five incidents involving of this happening have been reported, including one report of a child who became entrapped and suffered minor scratches and bruises.

The wooden cribs used plastic hardware to attach the drop side. "Rockland Furniture" and the model number can be found on a rectangular label located on the lower portion of the headboard panel.

The following six drop-side crib models are included in this recall:
343-8124 Nightingale Spindle Drop-Side Crib
343-8280 Cottage Standard Drop-Side Crib Version 1
343-8271 Cottage Standard Drop-Side Crib Version 2
343-9105 Drop-Side Crib and Changer
343-8191 Renew Standard Drop-Side Crib
343-8192 Renew Convertible Drop-Side Crib

You should stop using these cribs immediately, and contact the manufacturer, Nan Far Woodworking at (877) 967-5770 or visit www.rocklandimmobilizationkit.com.

Now to an appliance you may have in your home.
Thousands of Viking dishwashers are being recalled because of a faulty electrical component. The part can overheat and even catch fire. The recall includes Viking 24" Professional, Designer and Custom Panel dishwashers manufactured between May and September 2010.

They were sold in black, white and 24 other custom colors, stainless steel and with custom wood panels. The name "Viking" appears on the control panel at the top of the door.
The model and serial number are located on the identification plate mounted on the inside on the left side of the dishwasher door opening.

The first six numbers in the serial number are the manufacture date in mmddyy format, e.g., serial number 052610 was manufactured on May 26, 2010. The company has received nearly two dozen reports of these incidents, several of which caused property damage.

For additional information, contact Viking toll-free at (800) 241-7239 or visit their website at www.vikingrange.com

And as you get ready for grilling season, you may want to make sure your grill isn't one of the 87,000 now being recalled. It involves STOK Island and STOK Quattro Gas Grills sold at Home Depot stores from March 2011 through February of this year.

The STOK Island has a round grill base and two burners. "STOK" is written on the grill cover and a label on the bottom of the grill stand. The STOK Quattro gas grill is a rectangular, four-burner grill.
"STOK" is printed on the grill's lid.

To identify whether a specific Island or Quattro grill is included in this recall, you will need to look at the grill's regulator. The recalled grills have regulators on them with the model number "AZF" on the front and a date code between 1046 and 1143 on the back of the regulator.

There have been nearly 600 reports of regulators on the grills leaking propane gas that can ignite, posing both fire and burn hazards.

The firm's website is www.stokgrills.com

And a recall on Baja Motorsports Dirt Bikes has been issued after more injuries were reported.
This recall involves all model DR50 and DR70 Baja dirt bikes with vehicle identification number (VIN) beginning with "L98," the letter "B" as the 10th character of the VIN and having a yellow dot or line marked on or near the VIN.

The model number and VIN are located on the product data plate, which is located on the side of the "goose neck" - where the handle bars meet the body of the bike.
The models listed can leak fuel from the fuel tank, causing a fire or burning riders.
The recall was first issued last year, but after ten more incidents of this happening were reported, the bikes are being recalled again.

Those who participated in the march 2011 recall should also contact Baja Motorsports to see if a new repair is required.
