Nationwide Insurance closing

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - An area company will be shutting its doors forcing hundreds of employees to relocate to another city or find another place to work. Nationwide Insurance is closing in July of next year.

Nationwide Insurance offers vehicle, home, and life insurance. The Company Spokesperson Nancy Smeltzer says, "By announcing this decision now, we have given these associates plenty of time to explore their options. We'll hold individual meetings with each associate, and discuss their career interest and development plans. We will work with them to find positions within Nationwide or outside Nationwide."

Smeltzer says they considered various options before making the decision. " The building requires significant upgrade in technology and infrastructure. And as part of the company's efforts to enhance productivity and efficiency, increase competitiveness, and cut operating expenses."

But even though their Amarillo call center is closing, Smeltzer says, "Nationwide still has agents in Amarillo who will continue to conduct business as they always have. The decision to close the Amarillo office by no means impacts the work they do with their current customers or future customers. "

And there are other offices for the current employees to work at. Nationwide has locations in San Antonio, Virginia, Iowa, and Ohio.
