Google applies to buy 50 entire web domains

Posted: Updated:

Google is looking to become the owner of more than 50 web domains including .lol, .docs, and .youtube.

The applications were made to the Internet Corporation for the Assignment of Web Names and Numbers.

ICANN says they have received more than 19,000 applications for domains since it announced it's massive expansion of the number of domain endings from the current 28.

Each of the more than 50 top-level domains Google applied for costs $185,000.
