AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - An Amarillo federal judge has scheduled a hearing on the mental competency of a JetBlue Airways captain who left the cockpit during a flight and screamed about religion and terrorists.

Clayton F. Osbon faces federal charges of interfering with a flight crew over the disruption of a March 27 New York-to-Las Vegas flight. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.

U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson on Tuesday scheduled a hearing Friday morning in Amarillo to determine if Osbon is mentally competent to stand trial.

Witnesses say he left the cockpit and ran screaming through the plane's cabin until passengers wrestled him to the floor and subdued him until an emergency landing in Amarillo.
