OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -
Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks says he never feared that he
wouldn't reach a contract extension, even after his previous deal was
allowed to expire.
Brooks said Tuesday that he
always believed the new contract would get worked out and that "this is
where I wanted to be." Brooks was without a contract for a day and a
half after his old deal expired over the weekend.
He says the timeframe
wouldn't have been an issue if the Thunder hadn't made such a deep run
in the playoffs, making it all the way to the NBA Finals before losing
to the Miami Heat in five games. Once the season was over, there were
only eight days left to negotiate a new contract.
