STEPHENS COUNTY, Okla_A Stephens County woman who was killed in a
motorcycle accident last weekend is still giving to others after her tragic
death. Family members learned after Stacy Moore died that she had decided long
ago to be an organ donor. Not even her husband was aware of her choice. Moore was killed last
weekend when she and her husband collided with a semi truck that made a turn in
front of them.
Shelly Moore, Stacy's
sister, said Stacy had a huge heart and always wanted to give to others. Stacy
said finding out she was a donor after death was an example of how she lived.
"My sister
had a heart of gold. She would help anybody and everybody if she could. She was
just a great person."
Stacy Moore was
described as a selfless, caring woman who always put others before herself.
Little did her family know, this statement would bring on a whole new meaning
once they heard about her death.
"We didn't
know she had a donor card checked on her license. When it came out I just said
if any good could come out of this any benefit at all let's do this."
Not even Stacy's
husband who was riding with her when the two were hit knew Stacy was an organ
donor. As of right now the family said it's too early to know who will be
receiving Stacy's organs. They said in two weeks doctors will be able to tell
them how many of Stacy's organs they were able to use.
"I would
just like to know the impact upon their lives how it's helped them and what
they've been able to do."
Shelly said she
hopes what her sister did will open the eyes of people who don't know much
about organ donation and what an impact it can have on people you don't even
know.
"My drivers
license is coming up in August and I'm thinking I should check it. If I can
help others it's had an impact upon me and hopefully it will on others as
well."
Stacy's husband, Robert, has been out of the hospital since Saturday. He
will return to Oklahoma City
tomorrow for another surgery.
