WICHITA
FALLS, Texas_A burn ban has
been enacted in Wichita
County, Texas.
In a press release, county
officials said due to the extreme drought conditions and wildfire dangers Wichita County Judge Woodrow W. Grossom Jr. decided
to order the burn ban. This ban will be in effect for seven days, but
commissioners will meet on Monday July 16th to discuss extending the
ban for an additional 90 days
The ban includes all outdoor
burning but does not prohibit burning in some instances including: (1)
firefighter training: (2) public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations;
(3) planting or harvesting of agricultural crops; or, (4) burns that are
conducted by a prescribed burn manager certified under Section 153.048, Natural
Resources Code, and meet the standards of Section 153.047, Natural Resources
Code (5) Outdoor welding operations in accordance with certain guidelines.
Violation of this order is a
class C misdemeanor which carries a fine not to exceed 500.00.
