Apache Casino Hotel preparing for August opening

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_The newly named Apache Casino Hotel is wrapping up construction and putting the finishing touches on what soon will be Lawton's first casino, hotel and restaurant trio.

It's been a long journey, starting with an idea in 2007 and many downward spirals due to the economy, but the doors are set to open on August 25th.

We got a first glance at a suite, the coffee bar, conference rooms and even a peek into the kitchen of their new fine dining restaurant.

Apache Tribe Chairman Jeff Haozous feels the Apache Casino Hotel is filling a need in the community.

"All over on the eastern half of the state, there are a number of casino hotels. There aren't any on the western half of Oklahoma. It provides a place for meetings, it provides a place or gatherings, lodging and restaurants and I think that in addition to being a good place for our players to stay, I think the folks that live in Lawton will also enjoy it as well."

The 132 room hotel has a modern feel and unique decor.

"The theme that we built on was the fun colorful atmosphere within the gaming floor. We extended that, it's a little calmer because this a place where people come to rest but it still has things that are offered in hotels that you typically wouldn't find in a market like Lawton."

Haozous also said the casino hotel is going to be an economic boost, bringing in tourists and by providing hundreds of jobs.
