OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The
latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows drought conditions in
Oklahoma are intensifying and there is little chance of rain in the
forecast for the state.
The monitor released
Thursday shows the Oklahoma Panhandle, northwestern Oklahoma and far
southeastern Oklahoma in extreme drought. Severe drought is reported
from southwestern across northern and into east-central sections.
National Weather Service
forecaster Daryl Williams in Norman says only spotty showers are
expected with high temperatures above 100 degrees through the middle of
next week.
In addition, Oklahoma
County commissioners on Thursday declared a 30-burn ban in the county.
There are now 30 of Oklahoma's 77 counties with burn bans in place.
