UPDATE: Large fire contained on Fort Sill's east range

Fort Sill_Lightning sparked a large fire on Fort Sill's East Range Tuesday, creating some anxious moments for those just north of the post.
The fire generated a lot of smoke as it rolled over the range. Post officials say the wind whipped the fire in different directions, which made it difficult for area firefighters to stay in front of it.
The fire's progress was ultimately stopped near the Fort Sill landfill, quite some distance from the Elgin gate. The fire was contained within a couple of hours. They are monitoring hot spots through the night.
