Reality TV star participates in Lawton Rangers Rodeo

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_At the Lawton Rangers Rodeo going on this week at the L-O Ranch Arena there isn't enough time for all of the competitors to compete at night, so early Friday morning, when the temperatures were a lot cooler, some barrel racers took center stage including some women you might recognize from the CMT show "Texas Women."

Brooke Jeter and her friend Reagan are real cowgirls, they do what they love and they love what they do, barrel racing, horses and a lot of travel.

Early Friday morning, long before most people left the house to go to work Brooke was ready to ride. Like most professional barrel racers, learned how to ride a horse before she could ride a bike.

"Most of the girls that compete they start at a very young age, there's a few that start later in life and there's nothing wrong with that, they go on to make great barrel racers but most of the girls start really young," Brooke said.

Some of these women race two or three times every weekend and hold down a full-time job too. Reagan and Brooke travel together, Brooke drives, Reagan works.

"We're on our way to New Mexico, it's about a six and a half hour drive, and as soon as I get in the truck I'm going to turn on my computer and work from, they call it working from home, I call it working from the trailer," Reagan said.

It is not exactly a full-time job but Brooke is a reality TV star.

"They pretty much know your personality and know what you're going to say and they'll lead you straight into what they want you to do and say.

And I fall for it every time."

On the show, she says what she thinks, not much of a filter.

"They brought out the best and the worst of me and you know, but it is me and I can be you know kind of ornery at times and that's just how I am. That's how I was raised and I'm a very sweet person but."

Brooke is a sweet person with an interesting voice people see her and know who she is or at least they think they do.

"Most people they'll kind of stare at me and then I'll open my mouth and start talking they're like Brooke you know they how's it going, they'll start talking to me and then there like oh wait I don't know you I just recognize you from the show. That's pretty cute and everyone is like I love the show, I love you you're so sweet and I'm like really?"

Sweet but busy, they got to Lawton Thursday night, rode Whiskey this morning and about 10 am, Brooke hitched up the truck, loaded the horses and she and Reagan headed for New Mexico where they will saddle up and ride again.

Brooke has filmed two seasons of "Texas Women" for CMT, they are not sure if there will be another, the network has a few more months before making that decision.

Brooke and Reagan pulled in to New Mexico around 6 p.m. and they'll be riding soon. They'll pack up, drive all night, and Reagan will be back at it in Dallas Saturday morning, three states, three races in about 28 hours.
