LAWTON, Okla_A Lawton man is behind bars
after assaulting a police officer during an early morning melt down in a local
emergency room.
Police arrested
Zachary Berquist after he started cursing and screaming at hospital staff and
police while they were trying to get some information about an alleged assault
on him and his wife.
About an hour
before they arrived at the emergency room, police had responded to a call at
the Berquist's apartment complex in the 1800 block of Northwest 82nd Street. Berquist and his
wife told police they had been assaulted by some drug dealers.
Hospital staff
and police say Berquist, who was heavily intoxicated at the time, tried to
fight one of the police officers in the ER. Lawton police say they are investigating the
alleged assault.
